Same 'Ol Same 'Ol

  • Me: Should I get back the key that I lent to Julie, or is she going to keep it?
  • HR: No. -Thanks

I really like Abit Andygator.  It’s got to be in my top three (3).  Among the other things in life that I really like, playing guitar with my uncle is definitely at the top of the list.  There is a lot to learn from someone who has played guitar for most of his life.  Mostly that I won’t be as good of a player, but I love to dream that if I played every day for four (4) hours I could someday be as good a musician.  Professor Longhair has been on my playlist lately along with some other great New Orleans musicians.  My Uncle put into words what it is that I really like about the music, “The beat breathes.”

“Have you tried turning it off and on again?”
Too true.  Today someone called because nothing worked.  It was a little more than turning it off and on again, but a second after fixing it the person calls back up frantically saying “Nothing’s working.  I can’t put my number in to log on!”
“Did you try turning the Number Lock on?”

I got an email from someone this morning about a printer being really noisy.  They suggested to maybe spray some WD-40 inside and see if that helps.  I take all recommendations from end users very seriously, so I looked up on the official list of 2000+ uses for the fucking awesome product.  Yeah.  It’s in there.  Safe on printers.

I’ve made it through another surgery.  This time it was for an inguinal hernia.  To celebrate I’m downloading “Downfall” so I can do a Hitler downfall spoof on northerners not knowing about king cake.  …tbc…

Watching cotton candy dissolving back into primordial goo fascinates me.  The smallest drop of water or saliva will eat it’s way through cotton candy like the green acid blood from Aliens could eat through multiple decks of a mother ship.

The US decides to eliminate encryption on the video feeds being sent by Predator Drones in order to boost performance.  The result, they get h4x0red.
This reminded me of the IEEE 802.15.4 standard, encryption is optional for these tiny wireless devices in order to prolong battery life.  I’m sure it’s fine though.
Article about the Drones being pwned here.

DepthX, a mushroom-shaped machine, an underwater hydrobot that ‘thinks’ for itself, is being developed to search for life on one of Jupiter’s moons. DepthX is currently undergoing tests in one of the world’s deepest flooded cave systems -the El Zacaton cave complex in Mexico- to simulate penetrating the ice-covered sea that surrounds Jupiter’s moons Europa. The next version of the machine will be tested in Lake Vostok, a deep ice-covered lake in the Antarctic.
Scientists believe Europa’s ocean, which is warmed by gravitational forces, could be one of the best places in the Solar System to look for life. A craft sent to Europa would use nuclear power to melt through the 10km of ice that cover the moon’s ocean.
The mission, not likely to take place until 2019, will be one of the most complex ever attempted by the American space agency NASA.
